The Convair F-106 Delta Dart was an improved version of the earlier F-102 and was the US Air Force's last purpose built interceptor. It entered service in 1959 and was eventually retired by the ANG in 1988 and by NASA in 1998. It carried four AIM-4 Falcon missiles and an AIM-26 missile in its internal missile bay and could alternatively carry a nuclear tipped 'Genie' air to air missile. Despite being in service during the Vietnam war period, it was never deployed there and indeed never saw combat. It was held back in defence of the US and Europe. The F-106 was also never exported and was somewhat overshadowed by the better, all round, Phantom.
Trumpeter are a relatively new company to us in Western Europe. They are from China and are known for producing well engineered kits with a good level of detail.
This particular kit looks very well detailed and should build into a very nice model. There are markings provided for 3 aircraft of the USAF, missiles and drop tanks are included too.
