The Mirage F.1 was designed as a multi role fighter aircraft to replace the Mirage III. The main difference visually is that the Mirage F.1 does not have delta wings like the other Mirage aircraft. It entered service with the French Air Force in 1974 and has since been exported to other air forces in a number of different roles. The Mirage F.1 has seen action in many conflicts in including the First Gulf War, Iran-Iraq War and Afghanistan. It has since been replaced in service with the French Air Force by both the Mirage 2000 and Rafale. It is still in service with a few air forces but most have retired them in favour of newer aircraft. The F.1E (such as the ED and EQ) were single seat multi role fighters, built for Arab nations.
Special Hobby are a model company from the Czech Republic and are part of the same group as MPM. They specialise in limited run plastic kits, usually of subjects that the main manufacturers don't do. This kit is injection moulded plastic with and it looks quite well detailed with fine engraved panel lines with decals provided for 4 different Mirages from Iran, Iraq and Libya. The kit also includes some photo etch metal and resin parts (including an Exocet for example!).
