The P-35 was an early US monoplane designed by Alexander Kartvelli (designer of the P-47) of the Seversky (later Republic) aircraft company. The plane was successful in trials and was chosen for production for the USAAF but production was slow and the USAAF acquired fighters from other companies as well. Deliveries to the USAAF were complete by 1938 and by then it was considered obsolete with a poor performance although it was tough and rugged.

The plane was taken on a tour, with the export designation of EP-1, of Europe to win export orders and it was chosen by the Swedish Air Force, who in turn called it the J-9. The Swedish Air Force took delivery of 60 aircraft before the US declared an embargo on exporting all planes to anywhere except the UK. The P-35 saw action in the Japanese invasion of the Philippines but was outclassed by the far superior Japanese aircraft.

Special Hobby is a Czech based manufacturer and this is their 1/72 P-35 kit.  This is a detailed multimedia kit, consisting of mostly injection moulded plastic parts but with additional resin and photo etch metal parts

Markings are provided for 4 different USAAF P-35's from 1938/39.
