KPM0128 1/72 Junkers Ju52 'Tante Ju' (Luftwaffe, Hungary, Slovakia)
- Customer Reviews
The Junkers Ju52 was a German transport aircraft that first flew in 1930. It started off as a single engine aircraft but was then changed to a 3 engine aircraft and first flew in that guise in 1932. In civilian use, it served as a general transport aicraft and airliner. It was also adopted by the Luftwaffe were it was used for cargo + passengers and briefly as a medium bomber. It was made famous in WW2 as the main transport for Luftwaffe Fallschirmjager (paratroops) which were used to quickly capture key targets in 1940 when the Germans invaded Denmark and Norway. They were also famously used when the Germans captured Crete, even landing fully laden aircraft on airfeilds still occupied by British troops! Although slow and poorly defended it performed well despite heavy losses and many survived. They were then used by other air forces for transport, such as the French and Czech airforces. There are quite a few surviving examples in museums around the world and several airworthy examples are popular performers, including one owned and operated by Lufthansa.
This is KPM's new Ju52 kit, it is the former Heller kit with new decals. You can make 4 different Luftwaffe, Slovak and Hungarian aircraft.
