HBB81759 1/48 Sukhoi Su-17UM3 Fitter-G
- Customer Reviews
The Su-17 Fitter was designed to replace the earlier Su-7. It featured more power which gave a big increase in low level performance, variable geometry wings (swing-wings) and a greater ordnance payload. It entered service in 1970 and was widely exported to Warsaw Pact countries as well as many African, Asian and Middle eastern countries. It has fought in many conflicts from the Russian Afghanistan war to the current Syrian conflict. Russia withdrew it's Su-17's in 1998 but some air forces had them well into the 2000's before retiring them and there are still a handful of air forces still using them. It was upgraded during it's lifetime with improved avionics and the Su-17M4 was the pinnacle and final production Su-17. The Su-17UM was the 2 seat model of the Su-17.
This kit from Hobby Boss looks very well detailed and looks to have many parts. The kits comes with plenty of ordnance and decals for 4 Russian aircraft plus a small fret of photo etch metal parts.
