The Albatros D.V was the final version of the Albatros D.I line and first saw service in 1917. Although not considered the best fighter, it was produced in numbers due to the structural issues in the Fokker DR.I and poor performance of the Pfalz. It was replaced in 1918 by the more capable Fokker D.VII.
