description - Customer Reviews
The Messerschmitt Bf109 is one of the most famous fighters in history. More Bf109's (over 33000) were built than any other fighter and it shot down many more opponents than any other fighter in history.
The Bf109F was a major redesign of the type with new wings, cooling system and aerodynamics. It retained the DB601 engine but with a more powerful version of it and all the armament was concentrated in the nose. It first entered service at the end of the Battle of Britain and proved to be superior to the Spitfire Mk I and II, speeding up the development of the Spitfire V. The main variants were the F2 and F4, which came into mass service in 1941 and were replaced in production by G series aircraft in mid 1942. The F series were considered by many to be the best pure fighter variant of the 109.
This set contains 2 kits of Eduard's excellent Messerschmitt Bf109F kits, complete with the usual canopy/wheel mask + photo etch metal parts. Decals are for 14 different Bf109F’s, covering the F-1, F-2, F-2/B, F-4, F-4/Z and F-4/Trop, in a variety of camouflage schemes, including ones flown by famous aces.
