The Bell P-39 Airacobra was an innovative, heavily armed US fighter from WW2. Early versions had a centre mounted 37mm cannon while later versions had a lighter but faster firing 20mm cannon. In addition a mix of 0.5" and 0.3" machine guns were carried as well as provision for bombs for the fighter bomber role. The type performed poorly at altitude and its climb rate wasn't good. These factors meant it was rejected by the RAF, who preferred the faster climbing, better performing Spitfire. However it was quite good at medium and lower altitudes and was used with some success in the Pacific by the USAF and very successfully by the Russian Air Force on the Eastern front, where most of the air combat was at lower altitudes. The P-400 was a UK spec P-39 with a 20mm cannon in the nose and 0.303 machine guns in the wings. They were operated by the USAAF after the RAF rejected them.
This is a two kit set, from which you can make a a choice of 10 different P-39's flown by the Russian Air Force in WW2. As well Eduard's highly detailed plastic parts it also contains Colour Zoom etch metal parts and Canopy/wheel masks.
