AZM7801 1/72 Messerschmitt Bf-109E-1 'Polish Campaign'
- Customer Reviews
The Messerschmitt Bf109 is one of the most famous fighters in history. More Bf109's (over 33000) were built than any other fighter and it shot down many more opponents than any other fighter in history.
The Bf109E was the standard model of 109 in service at the start of WW2 and through to 1941. The 'Emil' had the Db601 inverted V-12 fuel injected engine, which gave it a high performance, which helped make it probably the best fighter in service in 1939. The E-1 model had four 7.92mm Mg's while the E-3 replaced the wing Mg's with a pair of MG FF 20mm cannons. The E-4 was similar to the E-3 but had modified cannons that fired improved explosive rounds, plus extra pilot armour. The E-7 was the same as the E-4 but was fitted with an extra fuel line and rack, so it could carry a 300lt drop tank. Earlier E models were also modified to be able to carry the drop tank but the E-7 was the first model to have this. Both the E-4 and E-7 could also be fitted with a bomb rack for fighter bomber operations. They could also be fitted with a tropical filter for use in dusty or sandy environments.
This is AZ Models' excellent new tool Bf109E kit which looks as good as their earlier excellent 109F/G series of kits. It is highly detailed with engraved panel lines and comes with markings for 3 different aircraft, used in the Polish campaign of 1939.
