The Harrier was the world's first and most successful jet aircraft with vertical take off and landing capability. With this ability the Harrier can take off and land where other jet fighters cannot. This combined with its small size made it an ideal close support aircraft. It entered service with the RAF in this role in 1970. It has been constantly upgraded to keep it in the frontline and even a successful naval variant, the Sea Harrier was developed. It has recently been retired by both the RAF and Royal Navy but remains in service with the likes of the US Marines and the navies of Spain, Italy and India.
This is Airfix's new tool Harrier GR.3 kit. The kit is highly detailed with engraved panel lines and comes with markings for 2 different RAF aircraft
