The Yak-1 was the first in the line of successful yak fighters, which culminated in the excellent Yak-3. The Yak-1 was small and agile with a reasonable armament. It was also simple to build and maintain and was the best fighter at the time or the German invasion, being able to hold it's own against the Bf109E and F. It was produced in large numbers from 1940 to 1944 by which time the improved Yak-7, 9 were in service and the best Yak-3 was about to enter service.
Arma Hobby are a Polish company and this is their own Yak- Ib kit. It contains plastic parts for one model, which looks very detailed and very crisply moulded. The plastic parts are the same as the 'Expert' edition of the kit but without the extra items from the more expensive boxing. It includes decals for 4 different Yak-1's, flown by Russian aces.
